What we collect
- Account: your email address, used only to sign you in with a magic link. We never store passwords.
- Your fund: the story you write, your goal, your first and last name, and the month you're moving. A public fund shows your first name only; your last name appears solely on your private link. We don't ask where you're moving to or from, so your story contains only what you choose to write. The exact moving day is never shown, and we never collect a street address.
- Help calendar (private funds only): if you set up a help calendar, its slots and times live behind your private link, visible only to helpers you invite who sign in.
- Gifts: gifts are paid directly on PayPal, through the mover's own PayPal.me link. Move Me Fund is never part of the payment, so we don't collect or store your card details, and we don't receive a record of what you gave. That stays between you, the mover, and PayPal.
- Technical: basic request data such as your IP address, used to keep the service secure and prevent abuse. If you report a campaign, we keep the report text and the reporting IP address for moderation review.
Minimal collection
We collect the minimum needed to run a moving fund and keep it safe, and we do not sell your personal information. Transactional emails (like your sign-in link) are the only messages we send today. We may introduce advertising on the site in the future; if we add ad partners, we'll update this policy to explain what they collect before we turn them on.
How we protect it
- All traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS), and data is stored on secured, access-controlled infrastructure.
- Sign-in uses short-lived, single-use links over HttpOnly, Secure cookies, with no stored passwords.
- Payments happen entirely on PayPal, so no card or payment data ever touches our servers.
- Private funds are unlisted and excluded from search indexes and our sitemap.
Your rights
California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know what personal information we hold, the right to request its deletion, the right to correct it, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. Because we do not sell personal information, there is nothing to opt out of on that front.
Access & deletion
To request a copy of your data or to have your account and funds deleted, email movemefund@gmail.comfrom the address on your account. We will verify the request and complete it within the timeframe required by law. Deleting your account removes your funds and personal details. Because we don't process payments, any payment records live with PayPal, and you can manage those in your own PayPal account.
